{Invitations} DEAN'S 1ST BIRTHDAY!

The time has finally come...my baby is one month away from officially being a big boy. SIGH SNIFFLE SOB.

His birthday party invitations are done and going in the mail this weekend. I thought I'd give you just a little peek at what's in the works for my "little man's" first birthday party.

Dean's party is going to be small and include only our immediate families, which meant that I could afford to get a little crafty with his invitations since I only had to send a few. ***We'd love to invite more family and some of our close friends, but unfortunately our home wouldn't be able to accommodate everyone comfortably.***

THEME:: Little Mister Mustache Bash
COLORS:: Navy, lime & light turquoise

I decided to make Dean's invite a foldable card, with a front cover and an inside. To set the scene for a "Little Mister Mustache Bash" I cut a mustache and tie from textured scrapbook paper in the party colors for the front cover.

On the inside of the invitation, I included a picture I snapped of my little man in one of his daddy's ties and a newsboy cap. He doesn't sit still for very long and wants NOTHING to do with anything on his head these days, so it was quite a challenge to get a decent shot. ***I actually cut part of his head off in this pic but oh well...at least he was looking at the camera....lol.*** He even kind of looks like a little man with that serious expression...HA! I just LOVE him!

The other side contained the party details. I cut another mustache from the same navy shimmery paper that I used to make the card and included that on the top. We really hope everyone will "Comb Over" and join in on the fun!

I made some simple wrap labels too. I backed them with navy shimmery paper and attached them to the envelopes.

Mister R. Dean Powell is very excited about dropping these in the mail this weekend ;-}

I had a lot of fun making these invites, and I'm looking forward to sharing Dean's other party details with you next month!

{Entertaining} Bo's Birthday Details

My husband's 32nd birthday was on Saturday, and I hosted a family party for him at our home. I posted the invitations and wrap labels I created for him in a post about a month ago. Here are a few more party details!

{Guest of Honor - my hubby Bo}

{Chocolate Reeces peanut butter Coldstone Creamery cake - DELISH!}

{The party colors were dark blue, lime, and light blue. I used these colors on Bo's invitation and carried them through to some of the other party details including the napkins, plates, flatware, gift bags, poms, and a party sign and food tags that I made.}

{Party sign - Bo and his grandmother share the same birthday, so we celebrated both of them on Saturday.}

{Food tags for each item on the menu - not all tags shown here.}

{Homemade poms hanging above the drink station on the back porch}

{Poms are easy to make and are a great way to add a splash of color to your party.
Here's how I made mine....
1. Fold an entire package of tissue paper like an accordian.
2. Secure middle with a rubber band or twist tie.
3. Round edges by cutting with scissors.
4. Pull tissue paper apart and fluff.
5. Add ribbon around center and hang from ceiling (or wherever appropriate for your party).
HAVE FUN PLANNING YOUR NEXT PARTY!

{Invitations} Happy Birthday Babe!

My hubby's birthday is on May 8th, and I am having a small family party at our home to celebrate the occasion. This is also the day we made settlement on our home one year ago. Lots to celebrate on this day! The invitation I created uses pops of some of my favorite colors for a guy - dark blue, lime, and light blue.

I love making wrap labels (pictured above). They are the perfect finishing touch to any invitation or announcement. I'm sure I will make a few more coordinating pieces for the party! I'll post those once they are created:)

{The Birthday Boy} ~ Jack David!!!

Today is my nephew's 2nd birthday, and tonight was his party. It was a small family party held at my parent's home. There was not a theme for this party, rather a color palette of lime green, bright blue, and orange used throughout all of his party details. Check them out below!
Cute family - Mark, the birthday boy and my sister Becky

These are the matching thank you cards to coordinate with Jack's invite (seen below and also in an earlier post).

This is the party favor Jack gave to his cousin Charlie. It was a little white Chinese carton filled with girlie goodies for Char. I added the orange ribbon for a punch of color and the tag incorporating all three colors added some flare as well. Invitation also seen in picture.

Jack's party hat! Both my sister and I searched for white party hats that I could decorate. No such luck, so I made one myself. I attached a #2 that I made, and I found a fun, green, feathery "thing" at Michaels that I attached to the top of the hat. Lastly, rather than an elastic tie, I used the same orange polka dot ribbon seen on the favor box. Not bad for a DIY party hat!

Jack wore his party hat for about 2 seconds flat....just long enough for a cute picture (I had to bribe him with candy to get the picture....ha!).

The party menu and some of the cupcake toppers made from #2's I had printed and cut out by hand.

Cupcake toppers - J for Jack, #2, and his birthdate, 12.27. My sister put these in some of the dips and also in the mini ice cream pies she made for the guests.

One last party detail - his little gift from me and my husband. I had to stay in keeping with the party colors :o)

Look Who's Turning 2!

I can't believe it....my nephew, Jack, will be two-years-old in late December. Where did the last two years go? He was just a baby! In any case, my sister is having a small family birthday party for him while she is visiting from Virginia over Christmas. Becky requested simple stripes using the colors lime, orange, and blue. These birthday invites will be mailed in coodinating white shimmery envelopes. I also made her address tags for the back of the envelope that I will turn into stickers using my Xyron machine. They are orange to add a punch of color to the white envelope.

Mommom's 82nd Birthday Party Invites

My mom is having a little family birthday party for my grandmom's 82nd birthday in early November. When my mom asks me to make something for her, she gives me complete and total freedom to pretty much do whatever I want. Upon this request, I knew immediately that I wanted to use an old picture of my grandmom that my mom has in her living room as the backdrop of the invitation. I scanned this old photo of my mommom when she was very young and just added the party details in a small box at the bottom of the invite. I paired it with some pale lavendar envelopes. My mom is also going to place one on an easel during the party. I hope my grandmom likes it!

Let's Celebrate!

I created a party invitation for my old student, Tessa. She and her siblings are throwing their mom a surprise 50th birthday party and wanted something simple yet classy for her. They also requested green be in the invite as it is their mom's favorite color. This design was printed on a metallic cardstock to give a hint of glam and sophistication to it's overall classic look and came complete with a matching green envelope to pick up the touches of green in the invitation. The pictures came out a little fuzzy...much better in person!

First Birthday Party

My sister asked me to create my nephew's first birthday party invitations for his family party in December. She wanted to go with a football theme but didn't want to go overboard. I created his invitations as well as a food menu for the party. She also wanted to have a candy bar, so I created tags for each kind of candy and tags for the guests' candy bar bags. Finally, I made my sister matching thank you cards with coordinating address labels to send to her guests for their gifts to my nephew. It was one of my first projects, and I'm proud of the way they turned out!
