Engagement Party Invites - Jamie & John

Jamie and John got engaged on July 16th, Jamie's birthday, and are planning a destination wedding in Jamaica next June. This September their parents are throwing them an engagement party to celebrate this exciting time in their lives! Jamie asked me to create an invitation for her engagement party that incorportated a hibiscus flower and the color pink. Here it is!

Old Window = New Picture Frame {Before & After}

I love mixing old with new. As a matter of fact, that is the style I am going for in my home. It's a very old house, and I love it's old charm, but I also love modern conveniences such as new windows, appliances, furnishing and what not. So why not mix the two together?!
I've been dying to get my hands on an old window for a very long time. Finally my father-in-law gave me one that he had been saving and I began my picture frame project immediately! I wanted to display some of my wedding photos, so I sanded and painted the old frame black. Then I had my favorite wedding pics enlarged, and I cut them down to fit behind the glass panes in each of the six panels. I love the way it looks above the fireplace! The old window gives the frame an antiquey feel, but the new paint and pictures add that mix of newness - perfect combo!

It's Starting to Come Together! - {Our New Home}

My husband and I bought a new home on May 8, 2009. The previous owners did a great job of updating some of the old features of the home (ie: new electric, adding 10" plank wood floors, replacing plaster walls with drywall, putting in air conditioning, updating the kitchen, etc). This 120 year old home looked great when we bought it thanks to all of their diligent updating, but we've been working hard to add some personal touches to make it our own. I still have A LOT of unpacking and organizing to do, but I'm making definite progress! Here are some pictures of what we've done outside so far. Pics of the inside to follow soon!

Somebody Got a New Collar!

Our new little pup, Ginger, came to us about a week ago from another family (her old name was Penny). They were nice enough to send us home with some of her supplies, including a crate, collar/leash, dog food, etc. The other day, my husband and I decided since she has a new home and new name, it was time for a fresh start all around, so we bought her a new doggie bed, collar, leash, and some other necessities. She also got a bath (didn't like that one too much!), and she smells nice and clean! We're still adjusting to our new routine with Ginger; she's a TON of work, but we LOVE her! She's a good girl (most of the time:o)) and looks adorable with her hot pink and orange paisely collar....much more fitting for our sassy girl!
