{Flowers} 33 Years Today....

July 5....my birthday. I had a really nice day with my boys. My husband had the day off from work because of July 4th weekend, so we relaxed all morning with coffee while baby boy napped, he made us a nice lunch and then we did a little shopping. I returned in the afternoon to find these lovely flowers on my front porch. My dad left them on my doorstep for me. Isn't that so sweet? Ahhh....dads and daughters :} AND I just happen to LOVE pink carnations {despite Charolette York's opinion of them}. I just used them as centerpieces for my sister's sprinkle, and my mom and dad had pink carnations at their Valentine's Day wedding in 1975. I think they are such a sweet, little flower.

Thank you, Dad, for thinking of me and making me smile on my birthday....

{Flowers} Easy and Cute ~ Wildflower Garden!

When we moved into our home last spring, there was a large area out back against our fence that we weren't sure what to do with. I love flowers of all sorts, but they are definitely maintenance with the daily watering and pruning they require. So we decided to try a wildflower garden in the empty spot and fell in love with it. So much so that we did it again this spring. This time we added a little fence to keep them from spilling out onto our sidewalk and also to keep Ginger from trampling all over them!


Wildflowers are so easy to care for...basically all I do is water them here and there and that's it! I made tons of pretty bouquets last summer because there were so many of them, and they make a huge statement! Once they really start growing, you can see them from the road in front of my house. The sunflowers haven't bloomed just yet, but once they do, they hang over the fence and look so adorable.


If you're looking for an easy, affordable, low maintenance, and unique way to incorporate flowers somewhere in your yard, try this. We used two packets of mix and, as you can see, it produces plenty of flowers!

{Outdoor Spaces} Hanging Baskets

Will my LOVE for beautiful flowers ever cease? I highly doubt it...

I've gotten a ton of compliments on these hanging baskets that adorn the front porch of my sweet, little, old, yellow charmer. As a matter of fact, last week a woman driving by my home randomly stopped to ask me where I bought my hanging baskets. Funny, huh?

Moore's Greenhouse is the answer. I love it there and purchase my mums for the fall and all of my spring/summer flowers there as well. It's very clean, the flowers are well cared for, and the owners are very helpful...they've even carried my flowers to my car for me when I have the baby with me. Check them out...you won't be sorry!

{Decorating} Fresh Flowers

Aren't these lovely? I love fresh lilacs...they smell so good and their color is gorgeous. Actually I love flowers in general. They make me smile. If I were rich, I'd have a fresh bouquet of flowers delivered to my home each day. Make that several bouquets.

I put these lilacs in a teacup from Anthropology my friend gave me one year for my birthday. They sit on the window ledge above my kitchen sink. I'm starting to really love the look of flowers in unique "vases". A teacup, a masons jar, or maybe even a coffee can with a ribbon tied around it....anything different.

And of course I love the monogram on this cup. I can't get enough of monograms....or flowers. Two of my favorites things....
